Last updated: 09/29/2026
This Privacy Policy describes how Narrative (“we”, “us”) collects, uses, and handles information when you use the Narrative mobile app and related services.

Information We Collect
Account and identity
- When you open the app, we create an anonymous account identifier so the service can recognize your session.
- If you sign in with Apple or Google, we receive the identity information those providers share with us (such as a unique provider ID and, when available, your name and email).
- If you make a purchase, we may store billing contact details you provide to our payment processor (such as name, email, and phone) on your account record.
Writing and feedback
- Journal entries you create in the app are stored on your device by default.
- If you use AI feedback, the text you submit for feedback is sent to our AI provider to generate comments and related analysis.
- We may retain anonymized copies of feedback runs (including submitted writing and model outputs) to evaluate and improve feedback quality. These logs are not stored with your account identifier.
- If you register a story for a live story exchange, the title and body you submit for that event are stored on our servers so we can run the event.
Events, access, and waitlists
- We store information needed to manage access: purchases, subscription or pass status, event registrations, and one-time access codes when applicable.
- If you ask to be notified about a city or region, we store that interest so we can contact you when events become available there.
Payments
- Payments are processed by Stripe. We do not store your full payment card number on our servers.
- We store payment and entitlement references needed to unlock features (for example customer and subscription identifiers, product or plan information, and entitlement dates).
Device and security
- We use app-attestation / integrity checks (such as Apple App Attest or equivalent) to help protect the service from abuse.
- We may process basic technical information needed to operate the app, deliver updates, and keep the service secure.
- If you enable daily writing reminders, reminder schedules and related settings are stored on your device. Reminder notifications do not include the content of your journal entries.
How We Use Information
- To provide authentication, account recognition, and access control
- To store and display your on-device writing, and to process story submissions for events you join
- To generate AI feedback on writing you choose to submit for feedback
- To process purchases and subscriptions and maintain your pass or ticket access
- To manage region waitlists and event participation
- To protect the service, prevent fraud and abuse, and troubleshoot issues
- To improve AI feedback quality using anonymized feedback logs
- To respond to support requests you send us
Data Storage and Security
- On-device journals, editor settings, and local preferences are stored on your device.
- Account, entitlement, waitlist, and event-submission data are stored with cloud services we use to operate Narrative (including Google Firebase).
- AI feedback requests are processed by Google’s generative AI services (Vertex AI / Firebase AI).
- Payments and billing portal activity are handled by Stripe.
- We use reasonable technical and organizational measures appropriate to the nature of the data. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure.
Information Sharing
We do not sell your personal information.
We share information only as needed to operate the service, including with:
- Google / Firebase — authentication, database, cloud functions, app integrity, and AI feedback processing
- Stripe — payment processing, customer billing details, subscriptions, and the customer billing portal
- Apple and Google — sign-in, app integrity / device attestation, and app distribution platforms
- Service providers who help us host or operate the service, under obligations to protect the data
We may also disclose information if required by law, or to protect the rights, safety, and integrity of Narrative, our users, or others.
Event story submissions are used to operate the story exchange you joined. We do not sell submission content.
Your Choices and Rights
You can:
- Use much of the writing experience without creating a named account; signing in with Apple or Google is optional until needed for purchases or synced account features
- Keep journals on your device; cloud processing of writing happens when you request AI feedback or submit a story for an event
- Manage or cancel an active subscription through the Stripe billing portal in the app (where available) or through the applicable app store / payment provider controls
- Turn daily reminders on or off in the app
- Contact us at support@mstrsk.com to ask questions, request access to account data we hold, or request deletion of account data associated with your account
Some information may be retained where we must keep it for legal, security, fraud-prevention, or accounting reasons, or in anonymized form that is not reasonably linkable to you.
Children
Narrative is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us personal information, contact support@mstrsk.com and we will take appropriate steps to delete it.
Changes
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. The “Last updated” date at the top will change when we do. Continued use of Narrative after an update means you acknowledge the revised policy.
